What can we see now?

This past week in Astronomy, we got to build our very own telescope! We walked through the process and it was super duper cool!! Jay got home for lunch and couldn't believe that we had MADE our own telescope. First...we took two magnifying glasses (one of a higher power than the other) and each of them put them a little away from each other until the writing on the paper became clear. Then, mom cut slits in the a cardboard tube where those measurements fell and we put those two magnifying glasses in those slots. The higher power was the closest to the end of the tube and the lower was closer to our eyes.

That is it! Then, it was time to play with our telescopes! Now, of course the images are upside down...but it totally worked and taught the girls how to make their own. They loved it...and so did I! We LOVE hands on projects and thanks to Creation Sensation we get to do one every single section of our Astronomy without worrying about whether we have all the supplies! They are all there in the kit and they are even in bags labeled for that unit...LOVE it!

We are going to continue our science and geography through some of the summer months (when we are even around...so much fun stuff to do this summer!!!) because we just love to take our time with these two REALLY fun subjects! I have a minor in Biology and I am learning SO much:)
