The Beach Trip...Water Park Fun!

About 2 months ago, we made reservations at The Dunes Village Resort on Myrtle Beach that we LOVE! We had been there before and knew that if we were patient...the deal would come...and it did $69 per night, baby!!! To give you some perspective, we called to extend one more night to check out on Saturday and our same room went up from $69 to $170!!!! What a deal we got:)

Our room was a king suite and it had a master bedroom with a king bed, a full sized kitchen (as we ate our breakfasts and lunches there), washer and dryer (a HUGE help!!!), and a living room that had a Murphy bed and a pull out couch for the girls. It had a dining room table for our meals and a patio that looked over the ocean...ah...beautiful!

The Dunes Village Resort has two tower hotels that are beach front and house two amazing water parks that are indoors. All the rooms are ocean view or ocean front...so there is not a bad room:) We absolutely love to stay here because no matter what the weather is like outside (and we always try to go in May since those are the lowest prices and the best shot at ocean and beach time!) we can play all day...and late into the night. Also, there is hardly ANYONE there at all...mostly had it to ourselves as you can see from the first photo at the top! Love it!!!

We started out on Mother's Day right after church and the drive was beautiful and flew by. We were extra glad that we booked on the Atlantic as all the oil spill is deeply affecting the Gulf. Once we arrived, we got all settled into our room and then headed out to the water park. We had a BLAST and stayed up WAY too late:) Then, the next morning (since it was still too cool to hit the beach) we headed back down to the water park for some more fun!!!

One tower has a huge lazy river, two smaller water slides, a kid fun water park, 2 hot tubs (kid temp...so the girls could enjoy too!), and all sorts of fun game room activities. It had pool tables, ping pong tables, giant chess and checkers sets (that the girls and Jay played for hours on), a waterproof Wii game system with plasma screen, shuffleboard, and an area for the resort activities!!! Whew...that side kept us SUPER busy!

We got to meet Tiki and the pirate while we were swimming. There will be a whole post on all the resort activities we did while there. They have a schedule and every single hour they had something going on for kids somewhere!!! Some cost money (like $2) and many were free...so we did several of BOTH:)

Then...we headed over to the other tower. They are literally 20 steps from each other across a little sidewalk area. This side had REALLY changed since the last time we were here! They had installed two GIANT adult and kid sized water slides!!!! This one was INTENSE.
I didn't know that at the time, so I went up to the top with Anli and we were in line for this one. Well, the man in front of me turned around and said...it's no big deal...it's a kid's slide! OK...so I get in and WHOOOOSH. Um...that is NOT a kiddie slide to ME:) I never went down it again...screamed the whole way down. But, our Anli girl? Oh, yeah...she was like the only kid in the line for it the whole time. She LOVED it...makes me smile that girl of ours!
This side also housed another smaller lazy river, two pools with basketball goals, 3-4 hot tubs and a whole lotta fun!

But, there was another giant slide that was slower and more swirly and we ALL loved that one! The steps up to the top were super steep and we got to work off all that yummy seafood we ate every night on those steps:) I tried to catch some pictures, but since everyone zoomed past so quickly...they are just a blur...literally!

GO DAD!

This side also had a wonderfully fun water playground the girls LOVED! It had this HUGE dunking booth that would fill up with water and soak everyone in it's path...and you just never knew when it would go!

There was a spraying submarine that squirted you all over as you played and ran around in it...Virginia loved it!

Anli LOVED dunking Dad. They would play this game over and over...Jay would find a spot and try to hang out and THEN...Anli would dunk him:) They had a blast together!

Then...the BIG splash...

And this my friends...was just the first morning! There was a whole week of fun...from Sunday until Friday to be had...and had it we did!
