Happy New Year!

Yes, you read that right! We have always desired to adopt, and we feel that now is the time that God is leading us to begin the process for adopting another little girl into our family. We have been in the process of filling out our application, getting physicals, sending out reference forms, moving (yes, that is WHY we moved to a 3 bedroom...so we could begin our homestudy process), and telling our parents. It's been REALLY busy the past 2 months as we have begun this journey, but we have had a great time.

Right now we are in the process to adopt from China, but I had a skin cancer removed (completely not a big deal!) and China is VERY strict about cancer. So, we are getting our paperwork together from doctors, dermatologist, and surgeons. We'll see. But, we are also looking at other countries also. So, we don't have a referral of a little one yet, but we have begun the official process and will be having our homestudy beginning in February. Then, we will start the long (4-6 month) process of gathering all the documents for our dossier. This won't be a quick journey...but a wonderful one!

Because we are desiring to adopt a little girl, we have chosen the name Anna Ruth for her. Anna is my favorite woman in the Bible (See Luke 2) and the story of Ruth clinging to a family of faith that was not her own...is just awesome! So, we decided not to choose which name...and will have a double name! So, we are praying that wherever our little Anna Ruth is (perhaps she is not even born yet!) we will bring her home soon!

The photo above is taken in her room which is filled with red, ladybugs, and lots of love! The symbol of adoption in China is the ladybug and the color is red. Now those of you who know me will understand how giddy I was to have a room filled with red and ladybugs! It looks great and our girls will use this room as a playroom until she arrives...and then it will still be full of toys I'm sure.

Please keep us in your prayers as we travel this journey! We are THRILLED to be called to adopt by God...what an honor to follow the heart of God to take care of the orphans of this world. How amazing to be able to follow His very own example of adoption, bringing us into His family even though we were sinners!

I will be posting so many encouraging things that God has brought our way as we have been praying and walking this road. But, for now...

Happy New Year from Jay, Frances, Anli, Virginia Grace...
and one day soon...Anna Ruth!

WE are so excited for your family. The girls will be wonderful big sisters. How lucky Anna Ruth will be. I have friends that adopted a little girl from China 5 years ago and Elizabeth is such a blessing to their family. I understand the lengthy process and will be praying for you all.
